Parnu is a resort of international recognition. In addition to that, visitors from more than fifty countries will see two quality symbols: Parnu became a member of European Spas Association (ESPA) in 2000, and Blue European banner flies high above the Parnu’s seaside since 2001.
Local sights and attractions
- Red Tower – is probably the only defensive structure in Parnu surviving from medieval times. It is the oldest city’s architectural monument. According to the chronics, in 14 century Parnu was encircled by a fortified wall with many towers: the round Viliand Tower, also know as the White Tower, in the north-eastern corner, Red Tower in the south-eastern corner, there is information about the Holy Spirit’s Tower as well. After a well-needed reconstruction in 1893 it acquired its current look.
- Rann institution for mud-cures – is built in neoclassic style. Bathing hut, as it was known before, was established in 1927. The colonnade in front is quite impressive, and interior is beautiful. The vestibule, the hall under the cupola and the decorative fountain further down the hall are especially fascinating. It is the true symbol of the resort.
